Solon files bill proposing ₱3,000 monthly inflation adjustment allowance for all gov’t workers

Government employees are on the front lines of providing government services, pandemic or not. Government employees, like those in the commercial sector and the Filipino public, were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Despite being exposed to the pandemic’s risk, government workers carried out their sworn obligations to offer government services to the public.

As of July 7, 2021, at least 90,739 personnel had contracted COVID-19, resulting in 1,283 deaths, according to the Civil Service Commission (CSC). However, the government did not provide enough assistance to all workers.

The government, as the employer, is responsible for promoting welfare, ensuring health and safety, and meeting the needs of government employees.

Bulacan 1st District Representative “Kuya” Jose Antonio R. Sy-Alvarado filed a House Bill No. 10287 or “Lingkod 3K Monthly Inflation Adjustment Allowance Act.”  The law proposes to provide all government employees with a ₱3,000 monthly inflation adjustment allowance to compensate for the lack of purchasing power and to assist them in coping with the COVID-19 pandemic’s impacts.

What is Monthly Inflation Adjustment Allowance?

It is a monthly allowance of ₱3,000 that will be paid to all government employees, regardless of their employment status. The inflation adjustment allowance will be paid in addition to any other allowances or benefits that government employees are entitled to under current laws and regulations.

Who are covered by the Inflation Adjustment Allowance (IAA)?

The following are covered by IAA:

a. All government workers regardless of their position, designation, status and salary grade level;

b. All permanent, casual, temporary, appointive, Job Orders (JOs), and Contract of Service (COS) personnel will be included.

The stated monthly inflation adjustment allowance for all government employees would not only help them get through these trying times, but will also motivate them to continue to offer and improve government services for the people.
