The
Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) has announced that out of 5,574 takers,
only 3,872 (69.47%) passed the August 2024 Medical
Technologist Board Exam (MedTech), given by the Board of Medical Technology
in different testing centers nationwide.
According
to Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Res. No. 1836, “Revised Schedule
of Licensure Examinations from August to December 2024,” the results
of the Medical Technologist Board Examination (MedTech) for August 2024
will be released in four (4) working days after the last day of the
examination.
This two-day test was given in several sites around the Philippines on August 6 and 7, 2024 (Tuesday and Wednesday). These locations included the NCR, Baguio, Cebu, and Davao.
The PRC Professional Board of Medical Technology, directed by Dr. Marilyn A. Cabal-Barza and member, Dr. Leila Lany M. Florento, administered the examination.
The
following are the six (6) MedTech board subjects with corresponding weights:
1.
Clinical Chemistry (20%)
2.
Microbiology and Parasitology (20%)
3.
Clinical Microscopy (Urinalysis and other Body Fluids) (10%)
4.
Hematology (20%)
5. Blood Banking and Serology (20%)
6. Histopathologic Techniques, Cytotechnology, Medical Technology Laws, Related Laws and its Implementing Rules, and the Code of Ethics (10%)
To
pass the written exam, examinees need an overall score of 75% or above and no more than a 50% in any of
the test’s major subjects. Unless the candidate fails at least 60% of the
subjects (the exact number will depend on the weights). Those who did not pass
the exam as a whole but nevertheless managed to get a score of at least 70%
were qualified to become registered medical laboratory technicians.
The MedTech rating verification for the August 2024 Medical Technologist Board Exam (MTLE) given by the PRC Board of Medical Technology will be available via PRC online portal.
