The
Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) has announced that out of 3,582 takers,
only 1,796 (50.14%) passed the Medical
Technologist Board Exam (MedTech) given
by the Board of Board of Medical Technology in Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro,
Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Koronadal, Legazpi, Lucena, Pampanga, Rosales, Tacloban,
Tuguegarao and Zamboanga this August 2022.
The
said examinations were held over two days (Saturday and Sunday) in separate venues
across the Philippines on August 20 and 21, 2022 (Saturday and Sunday).
These locations included the NCR, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo,
Koronadal, Legaspi, Lucena, Pampanga, Rosales, Tacloban, Tuguegarao, and
Zamboanga.
Dr.
Marilyn A. Cabal-Barza chaired over the PRC Professional Board of Medical
Technology, which also included members Drs. Leila Lany M. Florento and Grace
J. Dela Calzada, in charge of administering the exam.
Scope
of Examination
The
following are the six (6) MedTech board subjects with corresponding weights:
1.
Clinical Chemistry (20%)
2.
Microbiology and Parasitology (20%)
3.
Clinical Microscopy (Urinalysis and other Body Fluids) (10%)
4.
Hematology (20%)
5. Blood Banking and Serology (20%)
6. Histopathologic Techniques, Cytotechnology, Medical Technology Laws, Related Laws and its Implementing Rules, and the Code of Ethics (10%)
Passing Score (%)
To pass the written exam, candidates need an overall score of 75% or above and no more than a 50% in any of the test’s major subjects. Unless the candidate fails at least 60% of the subjects (the exact number will depend on the weights). Those who did not pass the exam as a whole but nevertheless managed to get a score of at least 70% were qualified to become registered medical laboratory technicians.
MedTech Rating Verification
The MedTech rating verification for the August 2022 Medical Technologist Licensure Exam (MTLE) given by the PRC Board of Medical Technology will be available via PRC online portal.
