The much-awaited results
of the November 2024 Civil Engineer Board Examination (CELE) are set to
be released in the early days of December 2024.
The Professional
Regulation Commission (PRC) has initially announced that the results would be
available by November 26, 2024 pursuant to PRC Resolution Number 1891,
but due to unforeseen circumstances, the exam schedules for PRC Baguio and
Rosales were rescheduled to November 30 and December 1, 2024, due to Typhoon
Pepito.
The CELE was held on
November 18–19, 2024, and the rescheduled dates of November 30–December 1,
2024.
It was administered by the
Professional Regulatory Board of Civil Engineering, chaired by Engr. Praxedes
P. Bernardo, with members Engr. Pericles P. Dakay and Engr. Romeo A. Estañero.
The exam took place in
several testing centers across the Philippines, including the National Capital
Region (NCR), Baguio, Butuan, Cagayan De Oro, Calapan, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo,
Koronadal, Legazpi, Lucena, Pagadian, Palawan, Pampanga, Rosales, Tacloban,
Tuguegarao, and Zamboanga.

The Civil Engineering exam
comprises a wide range of topics, each with varying degrees of importance.
Here’s a breakdown of the subjects and their relative weight in the exam:
a) Applied Mathematics,
Surveying, Principles of Transportation, and Highway Engineering, Construction
Management, and Methods (35%)
This section covers topics
such as Calculus, Differential Equations, Engineering Data Analysis, Materials
for Construction, Transportation Engineering, and Construction Management.
b) Hydraulics and Principles of Geotechnical Engineering (30%)
Key areas include Fluid Properties, Hydrostatics, Fluid Flow, Soil Properties, Soil Strength, and Slope Stability.
c) Principles of Structural Analysis and Design (35%)
This section includes topics such as Engineering Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Reinforced Concrete Beams and Columns, and Steel Beams and Columns.
To pass the Civil
Engineering Licensure Examination, candidates must obtain an average of at
least 70% in all subjects. Moreover, any score below 50% in any subject
will result in failure.
Candidates must bring the
following items to the exam:
a) Notice of Admission
b) Official Receipt
c) Two (2) or more No. 2
pencils
d) Long brown envelope
e) Long transparent/non-colored plastic envelope (for storing valuables)
d) Non-programmable calculators (updated list below)
The PRC has recently
updated the list of allowed non-programmable calculators, following incidents
of tampered devices being used in previous exams.
Notably, the Casio
Fx-570 ES Plus has been removed from the approved list after it was
found to have been modified for use as a communication device.
Other reputable models
from brands like Casio, Sharp, Texas Instruments, and Canon are still approved,
with an emphasis on transparent casings to detect tampering.
Candidates are reminded
that the following items are strictly prohibited during the exam:
a) Books, notes, or
printed materials
b) Programmable
calculators
c) Smartwatches, cell phones, earplugs, and other electronic devices
d) Bags (of any kind)
